Rothwell Plumbing Services Ltd have enjoyed an excellent working partnership with City West and have completed several phases for the upgrade and installation of the very latest  gas central heating systems to their housing stock across Salford and West Manchester. This project has spanned the last three years and has provided Rothwell Plumbing Services with a significant amount of work and ensuring employment over this period for a large number of local people. This contract has also provided a number of permanent jobs and training opportunities for local unemployed youth and adult trainees.

The project was registered under the “Considerate Constructors” Scheme and was awarded their certificate of compliance for all the good work carried out by the site management team and our installation engineers.  Well done to all on site for all their hard work and their efforts in providing a great service to the local communities and a big thank you to the management and staff of City West Housing Trust for their valuable support throughout this contract.

Rothwell Plumbing Services are again proud to announce we are winners of the national subcontractor of the year award 2011 for the third consecutive year. This year’s title was at the 8th Annual Builder & Engineer awards in Manchester on  5th October 2011, the previous two wins being at the housing excellence awards.

This year’s awards were held at the stunning new conference and events centre “The Point,” at the Lancashire County Cricket ground, Old Trafford. Present at the event for Rothwell Plumbing Services were  company managing director Graham Rothwell, Neil, Hanmer, contracts director, Joe Pearson commercial director and Tom McCandless contracts manager. Graham Rothwell stood up to accept the subcontractor award on behalf of the company and its employees.

The awards ceremony was also attended by a host of major contractors, architects, suppliers, manufacturers and other industry specialists from all across the United Kingdom.

The subcontractor category was especially hard fought this year with almost 40 applications from all across England, Scotland and Wales. RPS was shortlisted along with 4 other nationally based subcontractors but came out on top despite some excellent competition from our rivals.

Managing director Graham Rothwell commented after the awards; “The last couple of years have been very tough but we have had to maintain our nerve in order to maintain our market share. We are very lucky to have a dedicated and excellent workforce who have displayed tremendous professionalism throughout some difficult times. Everyone without exception has worked very hard to maintain our very high standards of quality and customer care but, together we have also managed to make continuous improvements right across the company. Our efforts have once again been officially recognised and I would especially like to thank each and every employee for their hard work and congratulate them on winning this prestigious award for the third time running.”

The group were given a presentation about Rothwell Plumbing’s main activities and a talk on what employers are looking for when recruiting new staff. They were also given a full tour of the Wigan head office and warehouse facility where the youngsters showed great interest in the company’s various operations, in particular our vehicle tracking system and our comprehensive waste recycling programme. The teeenagers were given a demonstration on how our cardboard waste is baled and how we compact our bulky polystyrene waste products in preparation for recycling.

The day was finished off with a brief slideshow presentation on the renewable energy part of Rothwell Plumbing’s business which was followed by a quiz on the environment and renewable energy.

The winner of the quiz was presented with a gift voucher and the group were also presented with rucksacks containing several goodies donated by our local business partners and ourselves. The feedback from the group on their day at our office was very positive saying they had a brilliant day and found it very interesting and informative. We are now helping the youngsters to update their CV’s with the aim of making them more appealing to local employers.

EPIC Housing

Rothwell Plumbing Services are pleased to be working with a new client “EPIC Housing” from Stoke-on-Trent. We have just begun installing new gas central heating systems as part of a heating replacement programme by EPIC Housing. This heating programme is helping to upgrade EPIC’s housing stock, giving tenants the latest in domestic gas heating technology in their homes. These new upgraded heating and hot water systems will benefit tenants by not only saving fuel but will help them to reduce fuel bills. Our site team have got off to a good start and the job is progressing according to schedule.

Rowland Homes

We are happy to announce the start of a new build project with Rowland Homes the Leyland based luxury home builder. Our contract is to provide all the gas central heating, bathroom and kitchen plumbing for 12 detached high specification homes being constructed in Heath Road, Runcorn. We are also installing all external rainwater goods to the properties.

Bramall Construction 

Rothwell Plumbing Services have recently begun another project in Salford for Bramall Construction. This new contract is for the installation of bathrooms and kitchen plumbing for a large number of properties owned and managed by City West Housing Trust. We are once again delighted to be working in partnership with Bramall Construction on this project and look forward to another successful partnership.

Bramall Construction 

We have recently been awarded a contract for Bramall Construction for the installation of bathrooms and kitchen plumbing including all external plumbing to 80 new build properties in West Gorton, Manchester. We are also contracted to install combined solar thermal and air source heat pump systems to 32 of these properties for our client. We are keen to demonstate our expertise in the renewable energy installation market and look forward to delivering high quality installations for our client.

Kier North East

Our North East office have been successful in winning a boiler replacement contract awarded by Kier construction on North Tyneside. A minimum of 200 properties will benefit from the installation of  new “A” rated boilers by Rothwell Plumbing. The project which started in June 2011 has got off to a good start and our local staff have been praised for the quality of their work so far.

Wates Living Space

We are happy to be working in partnership for the first time in the North East with Wates Living Space. They have awarded us a contract to install brand new heating systems, bathrooms and kitchen plumbing to 50 properties in East Durham. This contract started in late June 2011.

Application Form

The team  has concentrated their efforts on standard gas central heating installations for local housing associations and contractors but has also been hugely successful in winning  several contracts in the micro-renewables sector. The team have also been directly involved in an award winning micro-renewable project for South Tyneside Homes in 2010 where RPS installed a large number of combined solar thermal and air source heat pump systems for South Tyneside Homes in Hebburn South Shields. This project won the governments “footprint award” for the housing association and RPS are proud to have been the installer on this award winning project.
Recently Chris Jones and his team have secured top position on a micro-renewables framework for the installation of hundreds of solar photovoltaic systems around the North East. Our client,  Community Energy Solutions (CES), have been busy promoting the advantages of solar photovoltaics around the North East in a recent high profile advertising campaign. Our surveyors are currently conducting property surveys and solar PV installations across the North East.

Warren says,’ “We have been very fortunate in recruiting some excellent office staff and engineers from this area and we are very happy with our progress to date. We are also confident about our future in this region.” We have been able to create some good jobs for local people and we are working hard to sustain these jobs long into the future.”

Our new polystyrene compacting machine which was installed in January 2011 has proved to be a great success. This new machine has helped us to completely eliminate all the polystyrene waste packaging from our general waste skips and subsequently from entering landfill. This bulky waste product was responsible for producing many hundreds of cubic metres of waste each year.

The specialist compacting machine which was brought in  from Germany has already paid its way by saving money for the company and by significantly reducing the amount of waste skips required to dispose of this bulky packaging product. We are able to compact this material at a ratio of approximately 40/1 and then send the compacted material off to our recycling partner to be turned into a number of useful products. The introduction of this machine is another example of how we as a company are dedicated to reducing our overall waste and underlines our commitment to helping reduce any negative environmental impacts as a result of our operations.

As this was the final year of the subcontractor of the year award, we are proud to be the last company to have achieved this accolade.
